Face it!!

Let's talk about facials

Cucumber Facial Peel-Off Mask
Oh how I love for my face to feel smooth and clean! After a long day of classes, meetings, and socializing I like to partake in a light pampering of my face, nails and feet. I'll create a later post on the steps I take to relax, but for now I'm going to focus on facials. So far, the only facial masks I've used are ones from the Freeman Feeling Beautiful collection. I've tried at least five of them and I must admit all of them are good. My favorite two so far are the Dead Sea Minerals facial anti-stress mask and the Cucumber facial peel off mask. I like the Dead Sea Minerals facial because 1) I love the color blue, and 2) it really opens up my pores and doesn't make my face feel tight.

If you like knowing exactly when to take your mask off, you may prefer to do the peel off mask. I like the Cucumber peel off mask, because it smells good and I think it's fun to peel the mask off when it dries. Be cautious not to apply the mask too close to close to your eyebrows because you could run the risk of plucking a few hairs (also try to avoid lips and eyelids). If you peel the mask off and look at it, you will probably be able to see the dirt on your face in the mask. Sounds cool, right? It also gives my face a fresh feel. Now if you like more of a homemade feel to your mask you might like the charcoal and black sugar polishing mask a little better. The texture of this mask is much different from the wash and peel off mask in that it feels more like an exfoliating mask scrub. It actually didn't feel like a mask, more like facial wash. Because of it's impressive qualities, this mask was voted Best of Beauty by allure in 2013.

Dead Sea Minerals Facial Anti-Stress Mask

These mask come in small pouches  which are considered travel size (pictured below) or they come in 6 oz tubes. I bought the trevel size mask for about $0.97 at Walmart, but I think I caught them on a rollback sale, so they may be somewhere around $1.99 now. However, the tube prices differ from store to store, but should still be no more than $5. If you're wondering about the size, one travel size facial is more than enough for one face.  Eventually I will invest in a tube, but for now I typically get the smaller pouches because I like having a variety to choose from. I've also tried the Avocado & Oatmeal and Mint & Lemon clay mask. They were also really good. I try to give myself a facial at least once a week, but how often you give yourself a facial should depend on your skin type. For instance, I wouldn't use the Charcoal and Black Sugar mask every week because my skin doesn't respond well to too much exfoliation.

I haven't completely finished Freeman's entire line of facials, but I do plan on doing so. I have other Freeman products that I like and will mention them in a later post. Well that's all I have. If you recommend any other facials or you've tried these let me know what you think.

My B I G 'ol booty

Whelp, I said I wanted this blog to be interesting right? lol For those whom I've never met a day in my life-- Hello, my name is Gabby and I have a big butt. I don't gloat about it, I just can't deny it. It's there! Well, I'm about to dish out the goods. I'm telling all the girls and boys -- what it's really like to have a butt like mine. This post is going to be funny, weird, sad, and a little uncomfortable for me, but I'll just get right into it.

First, my butt is ALL ME! No surgeries, shots, pads, or squats. It just naturally grew this way. I get so many compliments on my butt from people of all kind.  I won't lie, it's a big confidence booster. I find it very easy to  feel and be sexy. However, it has not always been this way. See I didn't find out my butt was abnormally admirable until I was in the sixth grade. Boys were interested in me and girls grew jealous of me. I didn't know the reason for either until one day I was talking to this girl I THOUGHT was my friend about a boy I had a really big crush on. She boldly said to my face "you know he only likes you because of your butt, right?" That changed everything for me. I didn't know if that was true or not. I didn't know what his intentions were. I didn't know why she would even think that. All I did know was that I didn't like what she said and it made me feel slightly insecure about myself. From that point on I looked at myself alot differently.

Girls always say, "Gabby, if I had a butt like yours..." and I find it amusing--now. But as I stated earlier, having a big butt wasn't always the most comfortable feeling. My body has always looked more mature than my face. When I was younger I would get approached by older men more frequently than a child should. I never liked walking home from the bus stop, because I was always scared some guy would try to talk to me (it happened) so I found myself being pretty involved in extracurricular activities. I guess you could say that turned out positively. Here, I'll tell you a funny story. One day my mother and I went out to eat for breakfast and this guy saw me and her walk-in and take our seats. As the waiter walks off, me and my mom bow our heads to pray and in the middle of our prayer this man walks up and hands me a piece of paper with his phone number written on it. He says "sorry to interrupt, but I think you should use this" and walks away. IN THE MIDDLE OF PRAYER PEOPLE! My mom and I just looked at each other in shock. So the next time my mom caught him snooping around our area she called him over and asked "how old are you?" "I'm 21" he responded." She says "you do know that is my daughter right? She is only 15 years old." (Yes, I was only 15). He proceeds to explain how sorry and embarrassed he was in a way similar to a guy losing a bet on a football game. It was hilarious, but not unusual for me.
So take it off like ya' home alone
You know dance in front ya' mirror while you're on the phone
Checkin' your reflection and tellin' your best friend
Like, "Girl I think my butt gettin' big" -Nelly
That was just a mini breakdown to keep you up. That was always my favorite part. Okay, moving along. There were other things that came along with my butt including hips and thighs. This is probably the biggest con of having a big butt. It is almost impossible to find bottoms that fit properly and appropriately. I always hated wearing skirts when I was in school. The pencil skirts were always too tight and the pleated skirts looked too big on me. So I mostly preferred to wear pants, but even that was a struggle. My waist is smaller than my hips so it was hard to find jeans that didn't look too loose around my waist or cut off the blood circulation in my thighs. I was so happy when leggings were back in style.

Anyhow, I created this post just to let everyone know, having a nice butt comes with more than you think. Be proud of the assets God has blessed you with because every women has that special feature and a special story that came along with it. As a matter of fact, ladies let me know your favorite feature on yourselves and fellas let me know your favorite feature on a woman. Comment below!

XXl

So, today makes an entire month of me being 21. I can't lie, being 21 feels great. No "x" marks on my hand in the club, I'm able to rent a car on my own, and just feeling like a real adult. To the left is a picture of the first person who asked me for my ID to order a drink (Berry Mango Daiquiri) and to the right is the first
Barefoot Red Mascato
bottle of wine I ever bought for myself. (I take pictures of everything these days). I'm not much of a drinker, but I do like
Red Lobster
wine. Oh and I also had a drink from the Sugar Factory on South Beach which was really good. The drink was like $40, but I'd say it was worth it. Anyway, I just want to reiterate that 21 feels great. When I was 16 I thought turning 18 was going to feel like this but it's not even close. Honestly, nothing in my life has changed. It's just a feeling I have. I don't know if it's only me, but I wake up with a tingling feeling inside. It might be all in my head, but I feel like this is my year to accomplish so much. I finally feel like I have the freedom to do eveything I've always wanted to do. The most reassuring feeling is knowing you've made the right decisions towards bettering yourself. Finally, college is starting to make sense. lol I don't exactly know what is in store for me, but I'm taking advantage of all the opportunities sent my way.  Excitingly enough I created a list of things I want to do while in my 21st year.

  1. Travel to four different places I've never been
Sugar Factory on South Beach. Pictured is the Lollipop Passion drink
  2. Launch my YouTube channel
  3. Meet Beyonce, Drake or J.Cole
  4. Go to a Miami club
  5. Water-ski
  6. Intern at a radio station
  7. Celebrate my 21st 1/2 birthday
  8. Get fit (mind, body, and soul)
  9. Take a yoga class
  10. Ride in an airplane
  11. Paint a canvas
  12. Take a cruise to Jamaica
  13. Learn more about photography
  14. Go horseback riding
  15. Get my first tattoo (BIG maybe)
  16. Wine tasting
  17. Skydiving (indoor)
  18. Host a showcase
  19. See snow
  20. Road-trip with my girlfriends
  21. Inspire someone through my blog
I know I probably won't get to do everything on the list, but I at least want to do 10 of them. If you know of any more exciting things I could try or anything you plan on doing/did for your 21st, let me know. Also, if you know any good deals on anything I listed, don't be stingy. Let a sista know lol

Who's Your Top 5?

So I'm sure you've seen the trailers of Chris Rock's movie Top Five. If you haven't, you can check it out here.  Before I even think about going to the movies I have to look it up on my Flixster app just to see if the movie is actually worth seeing. According to my app, this movie had high ratings so I had to see what all the critics were raving about. Rock wrote and directed the movie and after watching it I would have to say he didn't do a bad job. Even though there were some wildly inappropriate scenes, I do think the story line and plot were thoroughly established. I will say that I believe Chris Rock channels most of his jokes towards the middle-aged and elderly. He honestly isn't that funny to me unless he's cursing which falls very short of a compliment for a comedian. I also don't understand why the movie was titled Top Five. If I remember correctly, there were only two scenes in the entire movie that discussed a selection of likely artist. But since Rock started the conversation, it's only right for me to jump in. So here's my top 5. As for rap, my top five artist would have to be Drake, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Tupac, and J. Cole in that order! As for a sixth, it would probably be somewhere between Andre 3000, Eminem, Meek Mill and Big Sean. But let's be clear.  My overall top five would have to be Drake, Beyoncé, Usher, Jhené Aiko, and Nicki Minaj (SN: I learned all of the lyrics to Drake's Headline 45 minutes after it was leaked). This means that I would still buy their album even if I could get it for free somewhere or no matter which one of their songs you play for me I'm going to either like it instantly or eventually. Either way I'm going to love it.  Now I'm asking you! COMMENT BELOW and tell me who your top 5 artist are and if you haven't already, go check out Chris Rock's new movie Top Five in theaters now and tell me what you think about it.

IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!

Photo taken by Margo Hannah

Happy New Year and hello everyone! My name is Gabrielle Roseberry, but I go by Gabby. I am a junior at The University of Florida (chomp, chomp) majoring in Telecommunication with an outside concentration of theatre acting. I'm 21, an only child, love the color blue, favorite number is 6 and I like long walks on the.....just kidding!!  I created this blog as a fun outlet for me to talk about things I'm interested in. I'm pretty much fascinated by life itself so I'm sure I'll have lots to talk about, but I don't want this to be all about me. Feel free to comment on what you like, dislike, want to see more of, or any other helpful suggestions that spark your interest. With the New Year ringing in I decided to come up with a resolution I knew I could commit to. I want to make sure I keep you all updated so that means-- you should find a new post here EVERY WEEK! Yep, I said it. Last year this would have been tough for me but after completing the #100happydays challenge on Instagram, I found myself to be pretty persistent lol  I am so excited about this year and all of the opportunities that will come along with it. I'll be doing more work in radio this semester, I'll be studying abroad in Germany, and I will also be creating a YouTube channel (my channel will be a little different from my blog but nonetheless, equally entertaining). I hope that you'll stick around to watch my dreams unfold and have a little fun with me along the way. 2015 will be a great year. I claim it for both you and I. So let's be great and do great things!!! See you back here next week friend.

Nice to meet you,

Gabby
